Location: Eastergate, West Sussex

Position: Deputy Manager

Setting: 4-Bed Children's Residential Home

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (Full-Time, Permanent)

Hours: 40 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and on-call responsibilities (rota-based)

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Deputy Manager to join our dedicated team at a nurturing and well-established 4-bed children's home in Eastergate. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a meaningful leadership position where your knowledge, professionalism, and heart for young people will have a direct and lasting impact.

Your Role as Deputy Manager:

As the Deputy Manager, you'll work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the smooth and effective daily running of the home. Your leadership will help shape a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment where young people aged 8-17 can thrive.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Registered Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Supervising, coaching, and developing staff to deliver consistent, high-quality care
  • Leading shifts and setting the standard for professional, child-centred practice
  • Assisting in the development and review of care plans, risk assessments, and behavioural strategies
  • Building strong working relationships with families, schools, social workers, and other external professionals
  • Promoting safeguarding and ensuring all practices meet Ofsted standards and legal requirements
  • Being part of the on-call rota to support the team out of hours when needed
What We're Looking For:

To succeed in this Deputy Manager role, you'll need to bring strong experience and a passion for developing both young people and staff. We're looking for someone who can lead by example and is ready to take on new responsibilities with confidence.

You should have:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a children's residential setting
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare - essential
  • Working towards or willingness to complete Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (Children's Residential)
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and trauma-informed care
  • Previous experience leading shifts or mentoring staff
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
  • A full UK driving licence
