Deputy Head of Year - Secondary (Pastoral)

Small Heath, Birmingham Full-time, Term-time Only Start: ASAP

Temp to Perm £24,840-£29,690 Actual Salary

A large, values-driven all-through academy in Small Heath is seeking a motivated Deputy Head of Year to join its committed pastoral team. The role focuses on behaviour, attendance, and personal development, working closely with staff, families, and external agencies to support student wellbeing and achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use behaviour and attendance data to lead targeted interventions
  • Coordinate pastoral support and parent engagement
  • Supervise students during transitions and unstructured times
  • Support staff with pastoral expertise and contribute to safeguarding
  • Lead on key stage transitions and extracurricular activities

What We're Looking For:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade C or above
  • First Aid qualification (or willingness to train)
  • DSL trained (or willing to be)

  • Confident managing challenging behaviour and sensitive pastoral issues
