About the Role Adept Resourcing are recruiting on behalf of our client, a long-established engineering manufacturer. We are seeking a motivated Machine Shop Labourer to support machining operations within a busy production environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with mechanical aptitude or prior workshop experience looking to develop a career in precision engineering. Full training will be provided for the right candidate. You will assist machinists with the production of centrifugally spun castings manufactured from stainless alloys, ensuring components meet quality, safety, and production standards. Key Responsibilities Assist with the setup and machining of large castings in accordance with engineering drawings and specified tolerances. Support machinists in loading, unloading, and preparing materials and components for machining. Carry out visual inspection of machined parts and identify potential quality issues. Mark and identify swarf drums and materials for traceability (alloy identification). Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area in compliance with company safety procedures. Operate basic workshop tools and assist with machine maintenance as required. Ensure production targets and timeframes are met while maintaining quality standards. Work as part of a small, skilled team, contributing to an efficient and safe workshop environment. Required Skills & Experience Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment preferred (training available for the right candidate). Basic understanding of engineering drawings and machining principles. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team. Flexible attitude towards overtime and shift work as required. Good understanding of Health & Safety and workshop practices. Clear communication skills, both written and verbal. Desired: Experience assisting within a machine shop or CNC environment. Familiarity with metal or alloy machining processes. Forklift licence or overhead crane experience.
