A highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer with a passion for hydraulics is urgently required to join an innovative marine engineering team at the forefront of cutting-edge projects. £40,000 - £65,000 + Pension + Life Assurance + 25 Days Holiday

Mechanical Design Engineer (Hydraulics) - The Role:

  • Design and specify hydraulic systems, producing schematics, 3D models, and detailed manufacturing drawings
  • Model and validate systems using simulation tools such as Simcenter AMEsim
  • Produce technical documentation, including calculations and design justifications
  • Support system development and testing
  • Manage supplier selection and liaison throughout the design and build process
  • Provide commissioning and technical support for vessels
  • Collaborate closely within a small, cross-functional engineering team
  • Contribute to wider mechanical design work as required

Mechanical Design Engineer (Hydraulics)- The Person:

  • A qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Power, Control Systems, or a related discipline
  • Experience in hydraulic system design (including schematics and component selection)
  • Solid understanding of both industrial and mobile hydraulic systems
  • Proficiency in CAD for mechanical design (3D modelling & drawings)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative environment
  • Willingness to travel for commissioning and support activities
  • Experience using Simcenter AMEsim highly desirable
  • NFPC or equivalent hydraulic training desirable (can be provided for the right candidate)

It's key you are experienced with the design of hydraulic systems rather than hydraulic components for this role.
