Are you an experienced Benefits Officer seeking your next opportunity? We are looking for a skilled professional to join a busy Revenues and Benefits Service, supporting the accurate and timely assessment of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support claims.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support claims in line with current legislation and local policy.
Verify and process all relevant documentation to determine accurate entitlement.
Handle changes in circumstances, ensuring all records are updated promptly and accurately.
Identify and refer potential fraudulent claims where appropriate.
Provide clear and professional advice to claimants regarding benefits and entitlements.
Liaise effectively with internal departments, external partners, and landlords.
Manage overpayment recovery processes in accordance with legislation and case law.
About You:
Proven experience in assessing Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support claims.
Strong understanding of relevant legislation and ability to interpret complex guidance.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally.
High attention to detail and accuracy, with strong organisational skills.
Confident working independently and managing competing deadlines.
Competent in Microsoft Office and electronic document management systems.
GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) essential; IRRV qualification desirable.
