MEP Quantity Surveyor

South East London

Role Summary:

Our client's team is growing, and they're looking for an ambitious MEP Quantity Surveyor with a solid understanding of cost management and a passion for mechanical and electrical engineering projects.

You'll be working on an exciting range of projects across multiple sectors - including data centres, commercial fit-outs, refurbishments (including heritage sites), and education - with project values reaching over £150m. You'll have the opportunity to visit sites and see these projects come to life!

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for lighting, containment, pipework, ductwork and other building services with minimal supervision.
  • Contribute to cost planning and estimating throughout all RIBA stages.
  • Source and obtain competitive pricing for plant and materials, maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and ensuring timely follow-ups.
  • Support cost reporting and financial analysis to help drive informed project decisions.
  • Review and assess variations, working collaboratively with senior team members where guidance is required.
  • Assist in reviewing contractor valuation submissions and carry out site visits as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date cost records, capturing all relevant information from meetings, site visits and correspondence.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • Strong MEP QS experience is essential and needs to be demonstrated at interview
  • Confident liaising with clients and suppliers
  • Awareness of RIBA stages
  • Proficiency in MS Office with ability to pick up construction and estimating software
