Sustainability Specialist - Head of

Lewis Davey is recruiting for a Head of Sustainability to play a key role in shaping our client's future. Working alongside the Director, you will be responsible for the implementation, delivery and embedding of sustainability strategy. As Head of Sustainability, you will be a subject matter expert, leading, delivering and overseeing related sustainability projects and activities. Lewis Davey is keen to speak with Sustainability professionals who have knowledge and experience of working with professional services/accountancy firms.

Role

Lead the day-to-day implementation, delivery and embedding of the sustainability strategy across operations and activities, ensuring alignment in the execution of the strategic objectives set by the Director and the ongoing evolution of the strategy.

As SME lead, manage and deliver key sustainability projects and initiatives, as allocated including those relating to Net Zero, ESG data, sustainability assurance, and CPD.

Act as the internal expert on specific sustainability subjects and working closely with the Director be a key internal resource for advice and guidance for colleagues and ensuring they are kept informed of relevant developments and best practice.

Produce regular updates and reports on the progress in achieving its agreed commitments and objectives in relation to sustainability strategy and emerging external trends and themes.

Represent and promote the voice in sustainability policy and thought leadership , ensuring the organisation remains influential and impactful across the profession.

Provide expert technical support to on sustainability-related queries, including reporting and assurance, ensuring high-quality responses that uphold professional competence.

Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in the UK, Europe and globally as appropriate, in the field of sustainability including government, regulatory bodies, standard setters and other relevant NGOs.

Develop and share technical sustainability content by researching and writing articles, producing guidance for the Technical Bulletin and other publications, and delivering presentations or lectures where appropriate.

What you will need

A professional accountancy qualification (CA) or equivalent professional qualification is essential.

Detailed knowledge of UK and global sustainability reporting and sustainability assurance requirements and developments and familiarity with major sustainability reporting initiatives.

Clear understanding of sustainability as a business issue and its relevance to the accountancy profession.

Awareness of key issues and trends in the wider sustainability agenda, including but not limited to: Net Zero and decarbonisation, ESG data integrity, and the connection of sustainability and emerging technology

Excellent project management skills, ability to deal with a large/varied number of projects at various stages and be able to prioritise.

Excellent written communication skills, including an ability to write articles and professional training/CPD material

Research experience is desirable, including understanding of research methods and interpretation of research results.
