London Resilience Unit Working with over 170 organisations the London Resilience Unit delivers and coordinates resilience services across the capital on behalf of the Mayor of London and Local Authorities. London Resilience supports the work of the London Resilience Partnership in assessing risks, working to reduce the likelihood or impact of those risks and, where risk can't be eliminated, preparing arrangements to respond, recover and learn from emergencies. About the role This exciting opportunity will be based in the Intelligence and Analysis Team and will work with blue light partners and the London Situational Awareness Team will monitor real time events and information feeds to produce high quality intelligence led briefings on unfolding events impacting London. You will be part of a small team that will work closely with one of London's leading blue light partners at the centre of their operations capability to provide insight and analysis to key decision makers. This is a unique opportunity to play a crucial role at the centre of London's day to day management. A key requirement for this role is good judgement and the ability to identify, process, analyse and comprehend critical elements of information about what is happening and turn this information into actionable intelligence that will shape the response to a critical and major events and incidents. You will be expected to make judgements on difficult/sensitive issues, with a keen awareness of any wider implications (political/media/etc). You should have excellent customer focus (with a range of internal and external customers/stakeholders), good communications skills and the desire to deliver a lasting impact is essential. Experience of policy, crisis management and or intelligence analysis/operational work is desirable. Overall, this job offers an excellent combination of initiative, service delivery and policy work covering the full range of London's city operations. The job will involve weekend working on a rotating basis and qualifies for an unsociable hour's allowance. Post holders must be willing to undergo National Security Vetting processes to the level of Security Cleared and to undergo Metropolitan Police Non-Police Personnel Vetting. This process requires the post holder to have been resident in the UK for five years. Individuals will not be expected to hold existing National Security Vetting to apply for this post. What your day will look like On a rotating basis, work within the office of a blue light partner to produce high-quality situation reports that keeps the pan-London multi-agency partnership updated on emerging risks and incidents. When not based at the partner organisation, support the London Resilience Unit in its work to produce analytically robust, credible, timely and high-quality reports, both in response to taskings and pro-actively as events dictate. Identify capabilities and methodologies that could increase the effectiveness of the team. Conduct duties in accordance with asset, information, and protective security processes as per government policy and information originator's requirements. Strive for continuous improvement in GLA's crisis response capability through up-to-date doctrine, training and exercising and capturing and applying lessons learnt. Skills, knowledge and experience To be considered for the role you must meet the following essential criteria: Experience of open-source monitoring and analysis, collection methodologies and the ability to formulate and deliver robust predictive or deductive assessments. Experience of producing high-quality situation reports in a time-sensitive environment, ideally within an emergency response, resilience, political or event management setting. Understanding of current affairs, international relations and developments, and the impact these have on London. Understanding of information management principles and data assurance legislation and their application in the workplace. High-level communication skills, with a successful track record of giving professional advice to decision makers as well as staff at all levels of an organization on complex and sensitive issues.
