Job Summary
Role: Practice Manager - GP Surgery (Part-Time/Full-Time)
Location: Brighton
Salary: Up to 50,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Closing Date: Friday 17th October 2025
The Practice Manager will support the GP Partners in all aspects of practice management, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, motivating staff, optimising efficiency, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. The role requires leadership, innovation, and a strong focus on service quality, staff development, and patient care.
Main Duties
- Lead and manage staff to ensure smooth daily practice operations.
- Oversee Quality Outcomes Framework (QOF) administration and performance.
- Ensure compliance with CQC regulations and Clinical Governance standards.
- Lead recruitment, DBS checks, induction, appraisals, and staff development.
- Manage disciplinary, grievance, and staff welfare processes.
- Oversee IT systems, information governance, and data security.
- Maintain and update the practice website and social media.
- Support clinical audits, performance reviews, and reporting requirements (CQRS, OQF, enhanced services).
- Manage contracts for premises and services (cleaning, maintenance, etc.).
- Lead patient engagement (online services, Patient Participation Group, complaints process).
- Monitor DNAs (Did Not Attend), implement improvements, and liaise with patients.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and practice-wide projects.
About the Practice
- Based in Brighton, close to the seafront, Brighton Station, and local amenities.
- Caring for approximately 7,000 patients across Brighton & Hove.
- A small team including 3 GP Partners, an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, experienced nursing staff, and a dedicated admin team.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Strong education with excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
- Experience working with the general public.
- Experience in healthcare settings and managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of accounting procedures, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Skilled in staff performance management (appraisals, disciplinary processes).
- Proven track record in project development, workforce planning, and service improvement.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Desirable:
- Leadership/management qualification.
- Previous NHS or Primary Care practice management experience.
- Health and safety knowledge.
