The Role We're seeking an experienced Engineering Supervisor to take ownership of a key production and packaging area within this fast-paced operation. Collaborate closely with Operations and Process Leads to deliver productivity gains. Lead root cause analysis and defect elimination activities. Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and automation projects. Maintain safe systems of work, ensuring all engineering activities are compliant. About You Time-served or formally qualified engineer (mechanical or electrical). Strong background in FMCG or food manufacturing maintenance. Collaborate with teams to improve performance and drive continuous improvement Accountabilities: Prepare for food and drink maintenance work. Conduct planned maintenance of food and drink processing and packaging assets. Conduct predictive maintenance of food and drink processing and packaging assets (condition-based monitoring). Respond to breakdowns of food and drink processing and packaging assets. Conduct reactive maintenance or corrective actions to resolve deviation. Identify faults (electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, automation, and pneumatics) on food and drink processing and packaging assets, action as required. Lead or support food and drink operational teams with machinery change overs and set ups. Manufacture and repair component parts for food and drink processing and packaging assets. Contribute to continuous improvement projects to optimise food and drink assets or processes. For example, participate in failure investigations to ensure process effectiveness and to contribute to and implement practical engineering solutions for efficiency and profitability. Contribute to technical performance reviews in collaboration with other functions and stakeholders. Maintain engineering documentation for food and drink maintenance work. Support maintenance and operational team members in developing engineering technical competence. Ensure availability and performance of maintenance tools and equipment. Current Edition of IET Wiring Regulations (C&G Level 3, achieve within 12 months). Food Safety Qualification (Level 2, achieve within 12 months). Application of Safety, Health and Environmental legislation and procedures. Supervisory experience Communication Skills. Teamwork. Planning works and writing reports. Verify assets meet performance criteria after work. Reading and adhering to site SOPs. Fault finding: Electrical & / or Mechanical systems. CMMS experience (achieve within 12 months). Multi-skilled capability with electrical bias (achieve within 48 months). Contractor control (achieve within 12 months). Hygienic engineering. Carry out actions from CMMS (achieve within 1 month). On rare occasions operating as part of an installation team to complete new equipment installations, commissioning and user training. Working to preventative maintenance and installation work which is often booked 2-3 months in advance, whilst also reacting to more pressing breakdowns and repairs. Working with the engineering planner to coordinate activities and movements. Conducting routine service and calibration work, alongside more reactive maintenance, including fault finding, problem resolution and repair. Completing service visit reports. About You The ideal candidate will possess at least 2 years of service engineering / technician experience, gained working on complex automated pharmaceutical equipment, including robotics, production/processing, materials handling, packaging and filling machinery. Candidates must speak fluent English and be multiskilled with a mechanical focus. You must be comfortable travelling in the UK and spending nights away from home when needed. A degree level education is beneficial, but not essential. It is, however, essential you have a logical and methodical approach to finding faults and be comfortable working on high value automated machinery.
