Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - SolidWorks Permanent Full-Time Salary - Circa 50,000 DOE Location - Office-based in Halifax We're excited to be supporting a leading provider of hands-on engineering education solutions. Responsibilities, but are not limited to Designing mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) and generating accurate cost estimates Sourcing components and liaising with suppliers Applying machining, sheet metal, and finishing processes to ensure product quality Selecting appropriate materials and finishes for function and aesthetics Integrating mechanical components such as bearings, gears, pulleys, and couplings Conducting design calculations and applying engineering theory Building and testing prototypes using workshop tools and rapid prototyping equipment Collaborating with electrical/electronic engineers to integrate PCBs and components Supporting electronic integration within mechanical designs to ensure seamless functionality Producing technical documentation for internal and customer use Supporting product demonstrations and contributing to technical briefs Leading design projects and managing them through the full development lifecycle Providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and contributing to team development Experiences required Proficient in SolidWorks and 3D modelling Degree-qualified in Engineering or a related discipline Minimum of 5 years' professional experience Proven experience in project management and cross-functional collaboration Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to drive projects forward and support team members Skilled in creating detailed production drawings (DFM) Experience designing mechanical components with appropriate limits and fits Experience working on projects involving electronic integration and collaboration with electronics teams Familiarity with measuring techniques for mechanical parameters Knowledge of machining, sheet metal, and bending processes Hands-on experience with workshop tools and prototype testing Package 37.5 Hours P/W Monday to Friday Flexible Hours (7am to 6pm) 33 Days Holiday Inc.
