Due to the nature of the work the successful candidate will need to hold an Active SC clearance and be able to work onsite in Warton 4 days a week.
The On-Premises Network Engineer must have an understanding of architecture, design, delivery, operation and control of IT infrastructures including hardware, operating systems and data storage, within wide and local area networks.
We're looking for candidates with relevant experience in Network engineering, or a related field, with demonstrable hands-on expertise with CISCO Firewalls Switches & Routers, Palo Alto Firewalls and NSX-T, Fortigate Firewalls.
o Collaborate with the architect teams and contribute to the low level design of a brand new network
o Configure, optimise and trouble shoot the implementation of an internationally connected On-prem Network
o Deliver the base level Network to enable the wider business to deploy collaboration and engineering tools
Core Duties:
As an On-Premises Network Engineer in a highly regulated environment, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a secure and scalable On-Prem network infrastructure. This includes:
o building and management of systems and components in physical and virtualised computing environments
o monitoring of performance of systems and services in relation to their contribution to business performance, their security and their sustainability
o preparation for new or changed services, operation of the change process including governance
o maintenance of regulatory, legal and professional standards
What you will deliver:
Assist Product Owner and other team members in evaluating product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between enabling teams (commercial, legal, supply chain, security) to ensure efficient product development and launch.
Track product development progress, identify and mitigate risks, and manage dependencies across the product line.
Product delivery, management, and ongoing development:
Analyse performance data and user feedback to identify areas for improvement and iterate on product offerings.
Provide ongoing service management and operational support for the product and its users to meet performance targets and KPIs.
Other Responsibilities include:
Implement, maintain and enhance the platforms physical and virtual infrastructure
Ensure high availability and performance of network services
Carries out virtual and physical infrastructure/network/storage builds and rebuilds
Assists in the preparation of detailed technical delivery plans
Maintain detailed network design documentation and knowledge management for operational transparency
Contribute to the design and integration of new network solutions to meet evolving business needs
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement network improvements and expansions
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
Understanding of IT infrastructure, IT Service Management, Containerisation
Knowledge and experience of the specific product or platform technologies in scope of this role eg Microsoft PowerShell, Bash, Data Centre Management, Software Defined Networking, Switching & Routing
Awareness of Cyber Security approaches & Secure by Design
Experience of Security classifications and working in a heavily regulated environment
Knowledge of coding languages for Scripting (eg Bash, PowerShell, Python, Perl, BAT) is an advantage
Skills:
Sound grasp of network fundamentals encompassing Switching, Routing, Firewalls, VLans and VNets, and an understanding of various network protocols and services
Manage and maintain spine and leaf architectures, BGP, Software Defined networking, and data centre patching.
Demonstrable experience of navigating the release-to-service process, including security and accreditation procedures
Providing invaluable technical insights and expertise on designs, solutions, tools, techniques, and standards
Hands-on development of pragmatic solutions for real-world challenges
Highly experienced troubleshooting skills
