Nursery SEN 1:1 Assistant Morning Support Role
Some children need extra time, care, and reassurance to start their school journey well. This morning-only role is your chance to make those early steps positive and successful for one child who needs a little more support to settle and thrive.
Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support for a nursery-aged child with emerging SEN needs (currently on the Autism pathway).
Assist with learning, play, and personal care routines, including help with pull-ups.
Work closely with nursery staff to keep the child included in all activities.
Encourage communication, independence, and social interaction through play-based learning.
Follow support plans agreed with the SENCO and contribute to daily feedback.
Maintain a calm, nurturing presence throughout the morning session.
Requirements:
Experience in Early Years or strong transferable SEN skills with younger children.
Understanding of Autism, communication strategies, or sensory needs.
Patience, empathy, and confidence working 1:1 with young learners.
Ability to collaborate with colleagues and follow safeguarding procedures.
Availability every morning during term time.
