Your new role As an Electrical Network Technician, you will be a key player in the operation, maintenance, and development of a large-scale private high-voltage distribution network. Based at a major UK port, your responsibilities will include ensuring the safe and efficient performance of electrical assets such as substations, switchgear, and critical infrastructure, including bridges and waterways.You will carry out planned maintenance, respond to faults, and support improvement projects to ensure minimal disruption to port operations. A significant part of your role will involve preparing, authorising, and executing both low and high-voltage switching operations in line with safety regulations and operational procedures. What you'll need to succeed Proven experience working with high-voltage electrical systems (up to 33kV or higher). Strong knowledge of electrical distribution networks and safety protocols. Relevant electrical qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent). High-voltage authorisation or the ability to obtain it quickly. A proactive approach to fault-finding and continuous improvement. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Willingness to participate in out-of-hours call-outs or standby rotas.
