TeacherActive is partnering with a forward-thinking SEND school in Scunthorpe, recognised by Ofsted as Good , to recruit an enthusiastic SEND Behaviour Support Assistant. This rewarding position is perfect for someone who is passionate about supporting children with behavioural, emotional, or social needs and wants to help them reach their full potential.

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you ll play an essential part in creating a safe, calm, and encouraging learning environment. Working alongside teaching and pastoral staff, you ll:

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with additional behavioural or emotional needs

• Encourage positive behaviour and emotional resilience through tailored support strategies

• Assist pupils in engaging with classroom learning and developing their social skills

• Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques

• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and parents to ensure consistent support

The ideal candidate will have experience working in SEND, SEMH, or alternative provision settings, and will:

• Bring empathy, patience, and a proactive attitude to every interaction

• Be confident implementing positive behaviour management strategies

• Understand the importance of emotional regulation and restorative approaches

• Have experience supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or attachment-related needs

• Be reliable, resilient, and motivated by helping young people grow
