Job Description

Role Description:

To provide HVAC Engineering support to the HVAC Team engaged in the functional design of HVAC Systems on the River Class Destroyer Program for the Royal Canadian Navy.
We are looking for someone who has clear HVAC experience including calculations, schematics, psychrometrics.
Some experience in either Marine or Buildings Services sectors.
They shall be familiar with the design of HVAC systems, and ideally practised in delivering solutions that meet customer requirements in at least one phase of the shipbuild cycle

Core Duties

Preparing specifications, develop Stage 1 HVAC System design solutions in line with specifications and relevant quality and technical standards.
Support and participate within the Zonal Integration process ensuring 3D model design reflects design intent and achieves compliance to relevant quality, standards and requirements.
Participating in developing, maintaining and modifying engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need.
Carrying out basic technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability.
Reviewing contractor documentation equipment drawings, polices e.g. Shock
Supporting Senior engineers with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters, to resolve problems and issues and to maintain awareness in both parties of priorities and objectives.

Individuals will be required to have the skills and competencies outlined in the competency framework descriptors which can be found on the relevant Develop yourself intranet site which can be found here. In summary, the role will require the following skills to be successful:

• Minimal experience in engineering or a defence related industry.
• Has worked in typically one phase of the product lifecycle in the defence/maritime industry or a closely related field.
• Has an understanding of the product lifecycle.
• Has worked with limited autonomy and has performed routine analysis in one engineering sub-discipline.
• Has proven to deliver a tasking within a limited and well defined scope.
• Experience of successfully liaising with management and peers.
• Prepared limited technical documentation, calculations and drawings in line with specifications, quality and technical standards
