Lead Solutions Architect
Contract: 6 months+ (Outside IR35)
Location: London (3 days on-site)
Day rate: 700- 800 per day
About the Role
We're partnered with an established technology consultancy that delivers secure, high-performing IT operations and cloud transformation solutions for a portfolio of international clients across sectors including shipping, real estate, energy, and finance.
They're looking for a Lead Solutions Architect - a hands-on technical leader with a strong Managed Services background, capable of defining architecture across hybrid cloud environments while guiding a team of engineers and consultants through complex, multi-client projects.
You'll shape the technology roadmap, lead cloud and infrastructure design, and provide senior-level technical direction across Azure, AWS, networking, and automation - while maintaining service excellence and innovation for clients who depend on secure, always-on systems.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, architecture, and delivery of enterprise-grade solutions across Azure and AWS environments
Oversee multi-tenant infrastructure for Managed Services clients (Windows, Linux, networking, security, backup, DR)
Act as the senior escalation point for complex technical issues and architectural decisions
Collaborate with client stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable, secure technical solutions
Drive automation and efficiency through tools like Terraform, PowerShell, Bash, and Ansible
Work closely with Service Delivery and Security teams to ensure solutions meet ITIL, ISO27001, and GDPR standards
Mentor and lead a team of engineers and consultants, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture
Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to continuous improvement across operations
What You'll Bring
Proven background within a Managed Services Provider or IT consultancy (multi-client environment)
Deep hands-on experience in Azure and AWS architecture, deployment, and optimisation
Strong understanding of infrastructure management - Windows Server, Linux, networking, endpoint management (Intune), and DR/backup
Knowledge of automation and Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible)
Experience working with ITIL-aligned service delivery models
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills
Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Solutions Architect, ITIL Foundation)
