Job Title: Principal Systems Engineer (Integration & V&V)

What you'll be doing:

  • The Integration Manager sits within the Acceptance & Integration area and is responsible for: -
  • Production and maintenance of the Integration strategy and management set
  • Monitoring of Integration testing activities, providing assurance of its adherence to agreed process
  • Has oversight of the Systems Engineering aspects of Integration
  • Detailed audit / investigative reports on the perceived deficiencies in integration approach, culminating in recommendations to mitigate or irradicate as appropriate
  • Oversight of the integration aspects of design proving arguments, and functional flows
  • Providing oversight and assurance of development & validation and verification plans and procedures for performing activities that will deliver system element and stakeholder requirements acceptance criteria. Monitoring of Verification and Validation activities within the Integration area, providing assurance of its adherence to agreed process
  • Ensure design proving evidence is comprehensive, captured within the correct tools and documentation and has been endorsed by the appropriate level of authority
  • Support the documentation of domain knowledge and be able to pass on information and expertise in order to help grow the knowledge base within appropriate business teams
  • Provide technical guidance to other engineers and support the engineering management team in planning and controlling specialist activities

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • A STEM degree or equivalent experience
  • Registration with the relevant engineering council (Incorporated or chartered/demonstrable evidence)
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle and ability to apply systems engineering practice in real work
  • Experience of Systems Engineering (SE), including usage of SE tool-suites to gather and analyse requirements

Desirable:

  • A strong understanding of other related project, product, programme, domain, discipline and functional teams of submarines or equivalent external bodies
  • Experience in complex system design and development, including electronic hardware and software development, design, and implementation
  • INCOSE/IFSE certification or membership
  • Understanding of the various requirement set documents and their hierarchy /purpose (TechSpec, Ship Spec, URD, etc )

As a Principal Engineer - Systems Engineering (Integration, Validation and Verification) you will apply subject matter expertise and domain experience to support submarine programmes in integrating systems of interest from system elements and assuring validation and verification against system and stakeholder requirements. They will provide subject matter expertise and advice to other functional and capability areas to support overall project delivery and performance. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
