The company is a recognised supplier of commercial ventilation and air handling solutions used across healthcare, commercial, education and industrial buildings. Due to continued growth and increased demand for commissioning and technical support, they are expanding their field engineering team. The role focuses primarily on commissioning, diagnostics and technical support for complex air handling equipment. The Role This position centres on the commissioning, fault finding and technical support of commercial air handling equipment across new build and refurbishment projects. Engineers will work closely with mechanical contractors, commissioning managers and consultants to ensure systems are correctly set up, operating efficiently and meeting design performance. Key responsibilities include: Commissioning of commercial Air Handling Units (AHUs) on live projects Functional testing, airflow verification and performance validation Fault finding and technical diagnostics on ventilation systems Working with integrated systems, including heat pumps and refrigeration-based cooling elements within AHUs Providing technical support to contractors during the installation and commissioning stages Occasional service visits and troubleshooting of installed equipment Producing commissioning reports and documentation The role is field-based, covering London and the South of England , with travel depending on project locations. Requirements Experience commissioning or servicing commercial AHUs/ventilation systems Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability within HVAC systems Knowledge of airflow balancing, controls and system performance testing Experience working on commercial building services projects Desirable: refrigeration knowledge (beneficial for units with integrated cooling or heat pump systems) Ability to liaise with mechanical contractors, consultants and site teams Full UK driving licence Engineers from HVAC commissioning, ventilation service or refrigeration backgrounds will be considered. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, analysing, and testing thermal systems to ensure performance, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. You will contribute to projects involving heating, cooling, and energy management solutions across a range of applications, ensuring optimal thermal performance and sustainability. Key Responsibilities Conduct thermal analysis and modelling of systems, components, and environments. Design and optimise thermal management solutions for heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and/or specialist equipment. Carry out simulations using relevant software (e.g., ANSYS, CFD tools, MATLAB). Support prototype development and perform thermal testing to validate designs. Provide technical input on material selection, insulation, and cooling technologies. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, and energy engineers. Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety guidelines, and environmental regulations. Prepare detailed technical documentation, test reports, and recommendations. Essential Skills & Qualifications Degree (BEng/MEng) in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Energy Engineering, or related field. Strong understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics. Experience with thermal modelling and simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, FloTHERM, COMSOL). Practical experience in testing and validating thermal systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Desirable Skills Experience in HVAC, renewable energy, or advanced manufacturing sectors. Familiarity with energy efficiency and sustainability standards (e.g., Part L, ASHRAE, CIBSE). Knowledge of electronics cooling or battery thermal management (for automotive/aerospace applications).

I am currently recruiting for an electrical engineer for a permanent position based by Liverpool Street Station. This contract is looking after a tenant with 5 floors in Liverpool Street and 2 floors in Victoria. The working hours are 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday. There is a 1 in 3 call out with lots of overtime available if desired. This will be working within a team of 3 engineers on site, 1 other senior engineer and a junior engineer. The successful electrical maintenance engineer will need to be client facing and responsible for all electrical/ mechanical maintenance and compliance. Duties will include: Carrying out scheduled PPM and reactive maintenance tasks in maintaining site assets ensuring equipment availability. Ensure that routine maintenance is carried out to all building plant, equipment and systems to meet and exceed expectations, and agreed service level agreements. Respond to Building Management System alarms, and effect emergency repairs as needed. Issue and ensure appropriate controls within the Permit to Work systems. Ensure that Evaporative Cooling Systems and domestic water systems are maintained to comply with the requirements of the L8 standard. Ensure that suitable spares are available to carry out maintenance of the above plant. Ensure that comprehensive maintenance records are kept in the form of task sheets hard copy or electronically as required. Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared and adhered to for all tasks carried out to ensure safe working practices Ensure that engineering subcontractors are appropriately supervised, and comply with contractual commitments, and site operating processes. To be suitable for this contract you must meet the below criteria: Have a minimum of 5 years maintenance experience in a commercial environment. Be qualified to 18th edition & electrical city & guilds level 3 or equivalent. DESIRED - previous LV experience Have a good understanding of SFG20. Supervisor subcontractors. Be able to provide a minimum of 2 references from work completed in the past 5 years. Have your own safety boots and basic hand tools.
