Mechanical Engineer / Fabricator - Food Manufacturing Location: Coventry Department: Engineering Maintenance Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday 8.30am-5pm Salary: 47800 Join Our Engineering Team We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Fabricator to join our busy food manufacturing site. This is a hands-on, workshop-based position where you'll carry out mechanical maintenance, welding, and fabrication to keep production lines running efficiently. You'll be responsible for diagnosing faults, repairing machinery, fabricating new parts, and maintaining equipment across the plant. The ideal candidate will have strong welding and machining skills, experience with automated production systems , and a passion for problem-solving. Key Responsibilities Carry out mechanical maintenance and repair on production and packaging machinery. Perform fabrication and welding (TIG, MIG, ARC) of components to food industry standards. Create and update CAD drawings for fabricated and modified parts. Support breakdown and preventative maintenance activities to minimize downtime. Machine replacement parts (lathe, milling, drilling) and maintain spares stock. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety , Food Safety , and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) . Work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to improve reliability and efficiency. Record maintenance activities and provide reports on completed work. What We're Looking For Essential: Time-served Mechanical Engineer , Fabricator , or Maintenance Technician . Proven experience in a manufacturing or food production environment.
