Job Description

Freightserve recruitment are looking for an Export / Import Freight Coordinator for a well-established niche Freight Forwarder based in the Heathrow area.

JOB PURPOSE: To provide the effective delivery of valuable cargo consignments for clients and provide excellent customer service.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Execution of operational tasks including handling daily imports, exports, customs clearance and deliveries as directed.
  • Create, maintain and complete job shipment files on relevant in-house systems.
  • Also create, maintain and complete hard copy files of these shipments. Ensure all relevant paperwork (Shipment request, AWB's, security receipts etc) are kept within.
  • Submit import and export customs entries in line with customer clearance instructions.
  • Co-ordinate shipments with relevant UK and international vendors always ensuring proactive communications.
  • Creation of relevant documents for all shipments, including AWB's, guard sheets and other.
  • Pack commodities according to company standards, ensuring they are secure, safe, and ready for transit.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to meet daily shipping goals.
  • Effective and proactive communications with the customer, providing full details of all stages of the shipment process
  • Special projects and other reasonable tasks / duties as delegated by Operations Manager.
  • Maintain meaningful vendor relationships ensuring security and service expectations are preserved.
  • Escalate any major customer issues.
  • Offer ideas to improve and standardise operations.
  • Provide operational coverage for colleagues as directed.
  • Highlight jobs at negative and limited margin to the Operations Manager.
  • Ensure Jobs are costed correctly on the system in a timely manner
  • Feedback on job related cost variances as requested.
  • Embrace new ways of working
  • Understand the sales process and undertake elements of this as part of role
  • Good time management ensuring work is completed in line with daily business requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED:-

  • Previous experience of customs entries (imports/exports)
  • Good working knowledge of customs procedures
  • Experienced in Air and Road Freight.
  • Understanding of Cargowise
  • Experience and understanding of special processing requirements would be a distinct advantage to the role, for example:
  • VAT Relief for Investment Commodities
  • IPR (Inward Processing Relief)
  • OPR (Outward Processing Relief)
  • TIB (Temporary Import Bond for Temporary Admissions)

Working hours are 8am - 4.30pm or 9-5.30pm
