About the role
The Assistant Site Manager will support the site management team in delivering commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects to the highest standards. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the day-to-day management of site activities, ensuring works progress according to programme.

  • Supporting the coordination of subcontractors, materials and site logistics.

  • Helping to monitor workmanship, quality standards and compliance with project specifications.

  • Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed, conducting daily checks and reporting issues promptly.

  • Maintaining site documentation, including permits, reports and progress records.

  • Liaising with site managers, project managers, subcontractors and suppliers to help resolve any on-site issues.

  • Contributing to client updates, progress meetings and handover processes where required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a site-based construction role is beneficial, ideally within fit-out or refurbishment, but not essential for the right candidate.

  • Strong understanding of basic site processes, trades and construction practices.

  • A proactive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to follow instructions effectively.

  • Good communication and organisational skills, with the ability to support multiple site activities.

  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety.

  • CSCS card required; additional site qualifications (SMSTS/SSSTS, First Aid) are advantageous but can be supported.
