Job Title: Support Worker (Children's Services)
Location: Ormskirk
Job Type: Permanent
Pay: £13.80 per hour
Sleep-In Rate: £73.50 per sleep

Role Overview:
We are recruiting experienced Support Workers to join a children's service in Ormskirk. This role involves supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Learning Disabilities (LD). You will help promote safety, independence, emotional well-being, and positive outcomes. The role requires patience, resilience, and experience working with children with ASD/LD.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality, individualised care to children with ASD/LD.
  • Assist with daily routines including personal care, dressing, mealtimes, and life skills.
  • Support children with communication needs, sensory needs, and autism-related behaviours.
  • Encourage healthy routines, consistent boundaries, and emotional development.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and engagement in education, leisure, and community activities.
  • Help children develop social skills, emotional resilience, and daily living skills.
  • Follow care plans, behavioural strategies, and therapeutic guidelines.
  • Remain calm and consistent during challenging situations.
  • Maintain accurate records including daily notes, incident reports, and handovers.
  • Adhere to safeguarding, confidentiality, and health & safety procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and professionals.
  • Attend training, supervision, and team meetings.
Person Specification - Essential:
  • Experience working with children with ASD and/or Learning Disabilities.
  • Strong understanding of autism-related needs, communication differences, and sensory processing.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and professionally.
  • Caring, patient, and empathetic attitude.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work shift patterns including sleep-ins.
  • Reliable, professional, and committed to high-quality care.
  • Experience in children's residential or supported living settings.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic or trauma-informed approaches.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Children & Young People / Health & Social Care).
  • Full UK driving licence.
