Estimator / Senior Estimator - Battery Storage, DNO Grid Connections & Substation Projects

Turner Lovell is hiring an Estimator / Senior Estimator to support major battery storage (BESS), DNO grid connection, substation and civils projects across the UK.

Our client is a respected engineering contractor delivering full design-and-build solutions for 11kV-132kV substations, underground cabling and renewable energy assets. They work with utilities, developers and EPC partners on large infrastructure programmes supporting the UK's energy transition.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates for BESS, DNO grid connection, substation and associated civils works.
• Review drawings, specifications and ERs to develop cost breakdowns.
• Complete quantity take-offs and rate build-ups for civil and electrical packages.
• Manage supplier and subcontract enquiries and review quotations.
• Support tender submissions with risk, value engineering and commercial input.
• Maintain cost data for substations, civils works, trenching and battery storage assets.
• Work with engineering and project teams to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Requirements

• 2-10 years' experience in civil or electrical estimating.
• Experience in 132kV substation projects is essential.
• Knowledge of DNO processes, grid connections or battery storage is an advantage.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Awareness of UK safety and construction regulations is beneficial.
