The Group's in-house legal team provides advice and support to all the businesses across a variety of legal issues, including commercial, contractual, employment, property and regulatory matters. The Role: This Solicitor Apprenticeship offers the opportunity for a sixth form or college leaver to begin their career in law without the expense of the traditional university route. This opportunity is funded through the government's apprenticeship levy and is open to applicants who meet the funding eligibility criteria. The apprenticeship programme supports the successful candidate from entry level through to qualification as a Solicitor upon completion of the required academic and professional exams. The role combines practical, on-the-job experience with structured study at Teesside University. Principal Duties: Commercial contracts: Assisting the legal team with the review, drafting and negotiation of various commercial agreements Dispute resolution: Helping manage commercial disputes by coordinating documentation, liaising with external legal counsel, and supporting the internal team throughout the resolution process Legal and regulatory compliance: Conducting research into relevant laws and regulations, monitor developments affecting the Group, preparing and maintaining compliance-related documentation, policies and procedures Property law: Gaining practical experience in property related legal matters, including assisting with leases, licences, acquisitions, disposals and general property management issues Employment law: Assisting with employment law matters such as contracts of employment, policies and procedures, disciplinary and grievance issues, and providing support on day to day employment queries Legal research: Undertaking legal research and providing initial analysis to support the team in advising on various matters across the Group File management: Maintaining accurate, organised and up-to-date legal files, registers and records to ensure the efficient running of the legal department Participation in internal meetings: Attending meetings to understand commercial objectives, identify potential legal issues and support ongoing projects and operations Administrative support: Assisting with a range of administrative tasks to help ensure the smooth operation of the legal team Developing commercial awareness: Gaining hands-on experience of business operations to build a strong understanding of how legal advice supports a dynamic international organisation As the apprenticeship progresses, the level of responsibility will increase, providing strong foundations for qualification as a Solicitor. Training and Study This apprenticeship includes time away from your work for academic study. You will: Study towards the Solicitor Degree Apprenticeship (Level 7) at Teesside University Attend University one day per week Have additional study days during exam and coursework periods This includes paid off-the-job training time, in line with apprenticeship funding requirements. You will be supported throughout by your manager and the wider legal team. About you: Essential: 3 A-Levels (Grade C or above) or equivalent, subject to Teesside University and SRA entry requirements Desirable: Driving Licence Foreign language skills Relevant qualifications or experience Skills and Attributes: Strong communication skills Excellent attention to detail Logical thinking and problem-solving ability Good organisational skills Initiative and proactive attitude Patience and professionalism Commercial awareness and willingness to learn Additional Benefits / Information: Various Pension Schemes.
