Freelance Sub Agent - Heavy Civils & Tunnelling Location: East London Rate: £430 per day (CIS) Contract Length: 6 months+ Are you a delivery-focused Sub Agent with a strong background in RC, shafts or microtunnelling? We are currently looking for an experienced freelance Sub Agent to help drive a technically challenging heavy civils package in East London. You will be acting as the driving force on site, managing subcontractors, overseeing the engineering team, and ensuring the complex works are delivered safely and to specification. The Project Scope: 1x 5m diameter shaft (20m depth) 1x 7.5m diameter shaft (20m depth) 110m of 1200mm ID Microtunnelling Key Responsibilities: Managing day-to-day site operations, driving production, and coordinating subcontractor activities. Writing, reviewing, and implementing RAMS, ITPs, and safe systems of work. Overseeing QA/QC and ensuring high standards of engineering accuracy. Managing Temporary Works safely and effectively. Working closely with the Project Manager to track progress against the program. Ensuring strict adherence to Health & Safety protocols in a high-risk deep excavation/tunnelling environment. What We're Looking For: Proven track record working as a Sub Agent or Senior Engineer on RC, heavy civils, deep drainage, shaft sinking, or microtunnelling/pipe jacking projects. Degree, HND, or HNC in Civil Engineering. Valid CSCS, SMSTS, and First Aid (TSTS is highly advantageous). Strong commercial awareness and temporary works experience. Excellent leadership and communication skills. The Package: £430 per shift, paid via CIS. Opportunity to work on a highly technical, prime civils project in London. Construction Manager / Supervisor (Civils & Building) Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire Contract: Freelance / Contract Rate: £350 - £400 CIS/LTD The Opportunity We are currently recruiting for an experienced Construction Manager / Supervisor to support the delivery of a major construction project in Sheffield. This role requires a strong background across both civil engineering and building works, with responsibility for managing site activities, subcontractors, programme delivery and health & safety compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on site leader who can oversee multiple work packages and drive projects through to successful completion. Key Responsibilities Manage and supervise day-to-day site operations across civils and building work packages. Coordinate subcontractors, direct labour and suppliers on site. Ensure works are completed safely, on programme and to the required quality standards. Oversee civil engineering activities including earthworks, drainage, foundations, reinforced concrete works and external infrastructure. Manage building packages including structural, fit-out and finishing works. Conduct toolbox talks, site briefings and safety inspections. Monitor quality assurance processes and ensure compliance with project specifications. Maintain accurate site documentation, progress reports and health & safety records. Liaise effectively with Project Managers, Engineers, Clients and Stakeholders. Proactively identify and resolve construction issues to minimise programme delays. Requirements Proven experience as a Construction Manager, Site Manager or Site Supervisor. Demonstrable experience delivering both civil engineering and building projects. Strong understanding of site operations, programme management and subcontractor coordination. SMSTS qualification. Valid CSCS Card. Excellent knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements. Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and construction programmes. Strong leadership and communication skills. Job Title: Setting Out Engineer (Service Detection Certified) Location: Manchester Airport Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Freelance Rate: £375 Umbrella PAYE per day Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled Setting Out Engineer to support civils and infrastructure works at Manchester Airport. The role involves precise setting out using Leica equipment and certified service detection to ensure safe excavation and installation across critical airport zones. Key Responsibilities: Setting out for drainage, sheet piling, and utilities . Conducting service detection using CAT Scanner, Genny, and other avoidance tools. Preparing and reviewing as-built drawings, QA documentation, and permit-to-dig records. Liaising with site teams and airport stakeholders to ensure compliance with safety and operational protocols. Supporting project engineers and site managers with technical input and reporting. Requirements: Experience as a Setting Out Engineer on civils or infrastructure projects, ideally in airport or transport environments. Service Detection Certification RD4000 or equivalent. Proficiency with Leica TS16, AutoCAD Valid CSCS card Strong understanding of drainage, groundworks, paving set out. Desirable: Experience working in live airport environments or other high-security infrastructure sites. NVQ or degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

The company is looking for someone to run a Civils and Building framework for the business, taking over from an existing employee who is moving to another part of the business Work will involve pointing up brickwork, drainage, vegetation clearance, small earthworks (cutting, embankments) and line side civils Individual projects up to 3m, majority of these are on NEC Contract so important for this person to at least have some commercial awareness Key responsibilities include: Programming and RAMS Working closely with the QS in pricing Creating CDM documentation Resourcing materials and ensuring these are distributed properly Liaising client with Network Rail (important part of the role so comms must be strong) Booking access to sites through planning teams Candidates must come from a Rail background - they'll be working closely with NR so need to understand the Rail environment To start with this will be 5 days in office/sites - office is in Marks Tey near Colchester, but would also spend 1 day per week at NR head office in Stratford Site travel would be dependent on the need to be there (if any issues for example) Preference would be for a permanent candidate but would look at freelancers also
