We are looking for an experienced and confident Senior Oracle Developer to join a large, established delivery team within the global travel technology industry. You will be joining a highly experienced delivery organisation comprising around 40 senior Oracle developers, responsible for delivering new business requirements and resolving production issues across technically complex, high-volume systems used by major leisure travel brands worldwide.
This role is suited to someone who wants to remain deeply hands-on technically. You will focus on solving challenging engineering problems, evolving the customer journey, and contributing to the ongoing improvement of mission-critical platforms-without pressure to move into non-technical or managerial roles.
Working ModelOnsite 5 days per week during probation
Hybrid working after probation: 3 days per week in the office
Rapidly gain in-depth technical knowledge of existing applications and the wider technical environment
Become a system expert through hands-on development, investigation, and collaboration with experienced colleagues
Design, develop, enhance, and maintain Oracle SQL and PL/SQL code within large-scale information systems
Proactively investigate production issues and implement robust, long-term fixes
Deliver new features and changes in line with agreed timescales, risks, and quality standards
Work closely with design, testing, and operational teams throughout the software development life cycle
Communicate clearly with internal teams and third-party partners on technical matters
Identify and manage development risks in collaboration with the wider delivery and management teams
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers
This role requires genuine, hands-on PL/SQL development expertise. Candidates must have strong experience building and maintaining core business logic in PL/SQL-not simply using it as a migration or data-movement tool.
Essential Skills & Experience10+ years' experience programming with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL in large-scale, enterprise environments
Demonstrated ability to write clear, efficient, and maintainable PL/SQL code to a high standard
Strong understanding of configuration management and issue-tracking systems
Degree in Maths, Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
Excellent diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Exposure to HTML, JavaScript, Java, and JSON
Experience with travel reservations, tour operating, or booking systems
Appreciation or experience of software and systems testing
Willingness and ability to learn new technologies where required
