Learning Support Assistant
Location: Hull
Salary: £23,000 to £24,000 Pro Rata
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent (Direct with School)
Start Date: January 2025

GSL Education is working with a specialist SEN school in Hull to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a contracted, full-time basis (directly with the school, interview process)

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health Needs), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) in a nurturing, inclusive environment. The school provides bespoke education for learners aged , helping them develop key life skills, independence, and confidence for adulthood. Must have experience in behavioural challenges.

The Role of a Learning Support Assistant:

  • Support students aged with ASC and SLD in both classroom and community-based learning.
  • Assist with individual education and care plans, promoting emotional wellbeing and personal growth.
  • Use de-escalation tactics when necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams to create a calm, structured, and supportive environment.
  • Encourage engagement, communication, and social interaction through tailored support strategies.
  • Support students with personal care where required (training provided).

About You:

  • Experience supporting young people with complex behavioural issues, SEMH, ASC, SLD, or complex learning needs is highly desirable.
  • Patient, compassionate, and adaptable, with a calm and proactive approach.
  • Able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Committed to promoting equality, inclusion, and positive outcomes for all learners.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection (training can be provided).
