Location: Saffron Walden Type: Permanent Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm Salary: Competitive Job Reference: 35902 Polytec are seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to join our Saffron Walden based client. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing sourcing, purchasing and supplier relationships across a variety of technical and operational categories. This hands-on role supports engineering, RandD, and operations teams by ensuring timely access to critical materials, components and services. Responsibilities Manage the end-to-end procurement process: sourcing, quoting, negotiating, and raising POs Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with suppliers across technical and operational categories Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms Coordinate shipments, deliveries, and customs documentation Work closely with engineering and operations to understand requirements and timelines Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and component records Improve procurement processes, workflows, and documentation as the organisation scales Requirements Essential Experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain roles-ideally within engineering, manufacturing, or tech Strong negotiation and supplier-management skills Ability to read or clarify technical specifications Strong organisational, multitasking, and communication skills Familiarity with procurement systems, POs, and inventory processes Desirable Experience in defence, aerospace, robotics, or hardware-focused tech Understanding of export controls and international shipping Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems CIPS qualification (or working towards it) Please contact us as soon as possible for more details or apply below!
