Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join a Technology, Strategy & Architecture function within a large financial services organisation. This role plays a critical part in delivering technology-enabled change by bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions.
Working within cross-functional delivery teams, you will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product owners, architects, and engineers to define, analyse, and document requirements that enable successful delivery of complex change initiatives.
The role is suited to someone who thrives in large-scale transformation environments, is comfortable working with ambiguity, and can use insight and data to influence decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Elicit, analyse, validate, and manage complex business and solution requirements.
- Work collaboratively with business and technology stakeholders to build a shared understanding of change outcomes.
Produce clear and structured analysis artefacts including:
- Process maps
- User stories
- Acceptance criteria
- Functional and non-functional requirements
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and stakeholder meetings to gather requirements and validate solutions.
- Conduct impact assessments to identify risks, dependencies, and business implications of proposed changes.
- Support delivery teams across the full software development life cycle using Agile and/or Waterfall approaches.
- Apply industry-standard business analysis techniques and methodologies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of BA practices and support less experienced analysts where required.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience working as a Business Analyst on complex projects or programmes.
- Strong background in requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation.
- Experience producing high-quality analysis outputs from high-level concepts through to detailed specifications.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong facilitation skills, including running workshops and stakeholder sessions.
- Solid understanding of Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
- Experience working within financial services or regulated environments, ideally with exposure to payments-related initiatives.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Qualifications & Professional Experience
- Degree educated or equivalent professional experience.
- Recognised Business Analysis qualification (eg BCS BA Diploma, IIBA CBAP) or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable experience across the full change and delivery life cycle.
- Practical knowledge of BPMN 2.0 and business process modelling.
- Ability to coach or support colleagues in Agile principles and ways of working.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Awareness of business architecture concepts and frameworks.
- Experience with data-related initiatives such as data journeys, analysis, integration, or migration.
- Exposure to customer journey design and user research.
- Experience working within scaled Agile environments.
- Certifications in Agile, DevOps, or related delivery frameworks.
- Understanding of product and project management principles, including planning and resource management.
