Responsibilities: Lead development activity across one or a small number of related project teams, shaping technical approaches and ways of working Design, build, and maintain full stack applications using modern programming languages and frameworks across Front End and Back End systems Apply and promote modern engineering standards, including security, accessibility, data protection, automated testing, and DevOps practices Take ownership of system and solution design for medium to high-complexity services, ensuring scalability, resilience, and effective integration Define and support systems integration and integration testing across multiple services and technologies Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring, contributing to communities of practice and continuous improvement Collaborate with Product Managers, Delivery Managers, Architects, Testers, DevOps engineers, and third-party suppliers to deliver high-quality outcomes Participate in an on-call rota, providing out-of-hours application support where required Skills & Experience: Proven experience leading software development on complex delivery projects, with a collaborative, delivery-focused mindset Strong full stack expertise with Java (essential) and Python (beneficial), using modern front- and Back End technologies Solid experience designing and building APIs and working with cloud platforms and containerised environments (eg Kubernetes) A track record of applying modern engineering practices, including TDD, security, DevOps, and Agile delivery Evidence of innovative thinking, adaptability, and continuous learning; able to pick up new technologies quickly and work effectively with others to solve problems This is a full-time, permanent role offering a starting salary up to £60,000 (DOE) and a remote-first working model.
