Salary: 27.48 per hour
Hours: 39 hours per week

We are looking for a highly skilled Master PSV / HGV Technician to join a leading commercial vehicle maintenance team in Barnstaple. This is a hands-on, senior-level role for an experienced technician who can take full responsibility for the repair, maintenance, and compliance of a wide fleet of buses.
As a Master Technician, you will lead by example, providing technical guidance, performing complex diagnostics, and ensuring all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities of the Master HGV Technician

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain PSV and HGV vehicles to Master Technician standards.
• Conduct advanced mechanical and electrical diagnostics, including engine, transmission, braking, suspension, and electrical systems.
• Perform MOT and PSV inspections, ensuring vehicles meet all legal and safety compliance requirements.
• Take ownership of workshop tasks, including overseeing maintenance schedules and managing complex repairs.
• Mentor and support junior technicians, sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
• Maintain accurate and detailed service records, parts usage, and fault reports.
• Lead on vehicle breakdown recovery and complex fault resolution.
• Ensure workshop safety procedures and quality standards are maintained at all times.

Requirements of the Master HGV Technician

• Fully qualified Master PSV / HGV Technician.
• Extensive experience across mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic work on PSV and HGV fleets.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and guide junior technicians.
• Strong understanding of MOT, PSV, and safety compliance regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a busy workshop.
• Flexible to work a 5 over 7 shift pattern.
