The role

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be at the heart of maintaining and improving critical infrastructure that supports national defence. Day-to-day, you'll have the following responsibilities:

• Act as Technical Authority for Electrical Services at HMNB Clyde, representing Babcock Marine in technical and organisational meetings.
• Survey and inspect assets across HMNB Clyde, applying MoD Defence Estates asset grading standards.
• Champion safety, security, quality, and environmental standards within the Facility Design section.
• Deliver electrical and building services designs for projects under £25k and oversee third-party designs for larger projects.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards while optimising client investment.

This is a full-time role (36 hours per week, Monday to Thursday) based at our Faslane site, with hybrid working arrangements available.

Essential Experience

• Proven experience in Electrical Design roles.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems and equipment within large commercial site operations.
• Understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements such as DSEAR.
• Working knowledge of engineering drawings and electrical calculations.

Qualifications

• Recognised Apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 18th Edition City & Guilds.
• City & Guilds 2395 Periodic Inspection Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
