Platform Engineer, Contract, Investment Banking IT

Caspian One is looking for a Developer Platform Engineers to join us as a consultant, working onsite with one of our leading investment banking clients. This is a long-term engagement where you'll play a key part in enhancing and supporting a modern internal developer platform used across a large engineering organisation.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in complex technical environments, collaborating with multiple teams, and delivering high quality engineering solutions within a fast-paced financial services setting.

What you'll be doing

• Designing, developing, and improving software that underpins the client's internal developer platform.
• Building scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions using modern engineering practices.
• Working closely with product, design, and engineering teams within the client environment to translate requirements into practical, well-engineered deliverables.
• Participating in code reviews, sharing knowledge, and contributing to strong engineering culture and standards.
• Applying secure coding practices and ensuring platform components meet high security and compliance expectations.
• Implementing effective unit and integration testing to support long-term reliability.
• Staying current with industry trends and suggesting improvements that enhance developer workflows and platform capabilities.

Skills and experience

• Strong fullstack engineering background.
• Experience with GitLab or GitHub and modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with automated testing practices.
• Hands on experience with Python programming
• JavaScript/TypeScript (React experience is advantageous)
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and containerisation (Docker).
• Experience with AWS or another major public cloud.
• Prior exposure to internal developer platforms, platform engineering, or developer experience tooling in an enterprise setting is highly beneficial.
