Audit Manager

As Audit Manager, you will oversee a portfolio of audit and accounts assignments and act as a key point of contact for clients. You will be responsible for planning and scheduling work, reviewing audit files and financial statements, and ensuring assignments are delivered to a high standard and on time.

You will coach and appraise junior team members and present "finished product" audit and accounts files to partners. While the role is primarily office-based, some travel to client sites (mainly South East and Greater London) will be required.

Key responsibilities
  • Managing and scheduling audit and accounts assignments

  • Acting as day-to-day client contact and building strong working relationships

  • Reviewing work prepared by Seniors and Supervisors

  • Taking ownership of high-quality audit files and statutory accounts

  • Supporting completion of work to meet deadlines where required

  • Coaching, mentoring and appraising junior staff

  • Assessing audit risk and ensuring appropriate procedures are designed and executed

  • Line management of a small group of Seniors, including biannual appraisals

  • Providing regular performance feedback

  • Managing budgets and delivering assignments to budget

  • Driving efficiency, compliance and continuous improvement

  • Assisting with ad hoc client and partner requests

About you
  • ACA or ACCA qualified with 3+ years' post-qualification experience

  • Strong technical knowledge of FRS 102, Companies Act and ISAs

  • Solid understanding of Corporation Tax legislation

  • Extensive experience in audit planning, risk assessment and complex audits

  • Experience with international groups and external group auditors preferred

  • Confident reviewing and preparing consolidations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Able to manage multiple assignments independently

  • Strong professional judgement and scepticism

  • Proven leadership and people management skills

  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Experience with Sage, Xero or QuickBooks

  • Familiarity with audit and accounts software (or ability to adapt quickly)
