The Role An established manufacturing environment is looking to recruit a CNC Operator to join a growing machining team. This position operates on a rotating double day shift pattern and offers the opportunity to work in a well-structured production setting. Key Responsibilities Operate CNC machinery safely and efficiently within a machining area. Complete routine machine checks and report any issues. Accurately complete job documentation and production records. Take ownership of work quality and ensure components meet specification. Raise and record non-conformance issues when identified. Support wider shop floor activities as required by the production team. Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safety at all times. Participate in training and skills development when required. Work to minimise scrap and improve production efficiency. Provide guidance and support to apprentices or new starters when needed. Work closely with supervisory staff to meet production schedules and delivery targets. Communicate effectively with setters, supervisors, and team leaders regarding workshop activity. The Candidate GCSEs or relevant hands-on experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment Apprenticeship or vocational engineering qualification desirable. Basic CNC operating knowledge and machine awareness. Able to read and interpret engineering drawings. Confident with basic arithmetic involving whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Clear written and verbal communication skills. Practical, common-sense approach to problem solving. Comfortable working with standardised processes and instructions. Overview We are seeking skilled and motivated CNC Turn/Mill Setter Operators with experience in operating CNC Mazak machinery to join a dynamic team. Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations. Qualifications Proven experience as a CNC Turn/Mill Setter Operator, preferably with Mazak machinery. Strong understanding of engineering drawings and technical specifications. Proficiency in using measuring tools and equipment for quality assurance. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to work on a rotating shift pattern. Day-to-Day Set up and calibrate CNC Mazak turn/mill machines for daily production runs. Monitor the machining process to ensure efficiency and accuracy. Job Title : CNC Milling Machinist Location : Nuneaton Hours : Split Double Shift 6.00am to 2:30pm Monday to Thursday, 6.00am to 11.00am Fridays 2:15pm to 22:45 Monday to Thursday, 10:45am to 15:45 Fridays Salary : 35,000 - 38,500 + 12.5% shift allowance ( 39,375 - 43,312) Key Responsibilities of a CNC Milling Machinist : CNC machining of tooling for composite component manufacture, including Epoxy boards, Carbon composite parts, and jigs/fixtures. Machining Aluminium, Steel, and other metals for various components. Ensure correct speeds/feeds and optimal operating practices. Consistently meet program cycle times, including simultaneous operation of left/right-hand parts. Efficiently set up components using fixtures or plates. Accurately measure tooling/components using micrometers, verniers, etc. Maximise machine efficiency and provide feedback for process improvement. Work closely with the CNC Team Leader to ensure job timings are met. Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area. Perform preventative maintenance on machines. Support other tasks across the Nuneaton site as required. Key Skills of a CNC Milling Machinist : Fully trained in CNC milling with Heidenhain, Siemens or Mazatrol controllers. Solid understanding of machining technology and working to tolerances. Experience in bespoke machining projects, ideally in a manufacturing environment. Time-served machinist with a hands-on, practical approach. Ability to read and interpret drawings (advantageous). Assertive, confident, and flexible with a strong team-oriented mindset. Capable of working effectively under pressure and meeting deadlines.
