Job Title: Solar Engineer - Property Development & Maintenance Location: Site-based / regional (with travel)
Salary: up to £42,000
Reporting to: Operations Manager / Asset Manager / Project Manager
Role Overview The Solar Engineer will be responsible for the
installation, commissioning, inspection, and maintenance of solar PV systems across new property developments and existing managed properties. The role supports both
new build projects and
ongoing asset maintenance, ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities Development / Installation - Install and commission solar PV systems on residential and commercial developments
- Work from drawings, schematics, and specifications to ensure compliant installations
- Coordinate with site managers, contractors, and electricians during build phases
- Ensure installations meet MCS, G98/G99, and DNO requirements
- Carry out system testing, handover documentation, and client demonstrations
- Support snagging and final completion processes
Maintenance / Operations - Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs
- Diagnose and resolve faults with inverters, panels, cabling, isolators, and monitoring systems
- Conduct inspections, performance testing, and system optimisation
- Respond to call-outs and breakdowns across managed properties
- Maintain accurate service records and compliance documentation
Health, Safety & Compliance - Work in accordance with H&S legislation, RAMS, and site procedures
- Ensure compliance with BS 7671 (18th Edition) and renewable energy standards
- Carry out risk assessments and safe isolation procedures
- Promote best practice in working at height and electrical safety
Skills & Experience Required - Proven experience as a Solar PV Engineer / Renewable Energy Engineer
- Experience in both new build installation and maintenance/repair
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently across multiple sites
- Confident communicating with site teams, clients, and property managers
- Good understanding of building services and property maintenance environments
Qualifications & Certifications required. - NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation(or equivalent)
- 18th Edition (BS 7671)
- Solar PV qualification (Level 3 / MCS-recognised)
- MCS certification(or working towards)
- G98/G99 knowledge & experience
- IPAF / PASMA / Working at Height or equivalent
- Full UK driving licence
