Building Surveyor to support the delivery of planned and reactive works across a diverse housing portfolio.The role plays a key part in improving customers' homes, enabling residents to live independently, and positively impacting health and wellbeing. You will work closely with internal teams including Housing, Asset Management, Compliance, and Building Safety, as well as external contractors, to achieve the best outcomes for residents.Responsibilities
- Support Asset Leads with the delivery of planned and reactive works across residential (and some commercial) properties
- Undertake full building surveys and produce detailed technical reports, specifications, and costed recommendations
- Project manage complex works, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to required quality standards
- Oversee responsive repairs and contribute to improving planned maintenance programmes
- Manage disrepair works in collaboration with legal caseworkers, ensuring compliance with organisational standards
- Carry out post-inspections to ensure works are completed correctly and represent value for money
- Assist with void property works in line with asset management strategies
- Investigate and respond to service complaints, providing clear recommendations and keeping customers informed
- Support insurance-related repairs and works following floods, fires, or serious incidents
- Provide technical advice on major repairs, cyclical maintenance, FRA, EPCs, and other specialist works
- Ensure contractor compliance with statutory, regulatory, HSE, and CDM requirements at all times
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with contractors, internal stakeholders, and local authorities
Requirements
- Experience working as a Building Surveyor within housing or asset management environments
- Strong knowledge of contract administration, including JCT and/or NEC
- Experience of project managing programmes of work
- Ability to write clear, detailed technical reports
- Relevant surveying qualification or equivalent experience
- RICS or CIOB membership (or working towards)
- Full UK driving licence
- DEA and/or FRA assessor training (desirable)
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
