Job Description

Futures are supporting a well-established electronics manufacturer with a strong product portfolio and long standing engineering team in their search for a Hardware Design Engineer. Following significant recent contract wins, the business is continuing to invest in its R&D capability to support a busy and growing project pipeline.

This role will focus on the design and development of electronic hardware for new and existing products, taking projects from concept through to production. As a Senior Hardware Design Engineer, you will work closely with manufacturing and engineering colleagues to ensure designs are practical, robust, and ready for scale-up. While the position is primarily hardware-focused, some exposure to embedded systems would be advantageous.

Hardware Design Engineer - Responsibilities - Electronics / Hardware / Embedded

  • Design and develop analogue and power electronic circuits for new products
  • Produce PCB schematics and layouts suitable for manufacture
  • Build, test and validate prototypes against performance requirements
  • Support transition from design into production, including manufacturing scale-up
  • Work across multiple projects, managing priorities and meeting delivery deadlines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges

Hardware Design Engineer - Skills & Experience - Electronics / Hardware / Embedded

  • HND or Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
  • Proven experience designing electronic hardware for manufactured products
  • Strong background in analogue electronics and power supply design
  • Experience with PCB design tools and hands-on testing
  • Some exposure to embedded systems or firmware integration
  • Practical engineering mindset with basic mechanical awareness
