Job Description

Financial Controller Leicester

Private equity backed. Product led. Tech enabled. Mid market business with a clear PLC destination.

This is a newly created role at a very deliberate point in the business journey.

Growth has been fast. Revenue is now comfortably into nine figures. Headcount is set to increase significantly over the next year. The business is early in a new private equity cycle, with fresh investment and an ambitious three to four year plan that is very clearly pointing towards a public listing.

Finance is not broken. But parts of the accounting setup were built for an earlier stage of the business and no longer give the visibility, pace or control needed for what comes next.

This role exists to change that.

It is a genuine blend of BAU and higher level build work. You will own the core. Group consolidation, statutory reporting, cash and lender reporting, capital allocation. Alongside that, you will bring more accounting capability in house, improve how information flows, and help shape a finance function that will stand up to public market scrutiny.

If you enjoy roles where you are running things properly while also improving them, this will land.

You will work closely with a Finance Director who has an enabling leadership style and wants a genuine number two. Someone she can trust to take ownership, manage upwards, and put their own stamp on the function.

You would lead a small direct team, with a wider group across treasury, procurement, general accounting and outsourced support, with a clear plan to bring more activity in house over the next year.

You will probably be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified. You will have dealt with real accounting judgement, lived in multi entity environments, and be comfortable in a private equity backed setting. You will be able to hold the detail and the bigger picture at the same time.

If you see yourself as a CFO one day, this is the kind of Financial Controller role that actually moves you in that direction. It's a step on the journey, not the destination.

Hybrid working is genuinely flexible. Finance has a seat at the table. What you put in place here will be tested, relied on, and very visible as the business moves towards PLC.

Package£90k to £110k plus bonus and benefits, including private medical insurance and enhanced maternity, paternity and sick pay, alongside some genuinely great wider benefits.

Working patternHybrid. Two days a week in the office with flexible hours.
