A client within the Public Sector based in County is currently recruiting for a
Senior Building Surveyor to join their
Building Regulations & Land Charges team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority in a
building control or regulatory environment.
The RoleThe key purpose of the role is to efficiently and effectively undertake the assessment of applications for Building Regulation consent within the Partnership Area, conduct associated building inspections, and ensure compliance with statutory regulations. The role also includes project management of major schemes for partner companies, fulfilling statutory responsibilities for dangerous structures, and acting as the Building Authority in safety matters related to sports grounds.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to: - Assessing Building Notice and Full Plans Applications and carrying out site inspections to ensure compliance with the Building Act, Building Regulations, and allied legislation.
- Project managing major and complex development schemes within the partnership area and for partner companies outside the area.
- Responding to queries and providing advice to architects, engineers, builders, and the public regarding building regulations.
- Undertaking fire safety assessments, inspections of dangerous structures, and initiating enforcement actions where necessary.
- Deputising for the Building Regulation Manager and Principal Surveyor when required and attending court sessions, inquiries, and hearings.
The CandidateTo be considered for this role, you will require:
- Expert knowledge of Building Regulations and associated legislation.
- An appropriate degree or equivalent qualification in surveying, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Corporate membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS or Association of Building Engineers).
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
- Experience in project management of major and complex commercial developments.
- Knowledge of fire safety and dangerous structures legislation.
- Proven experience of supervising and developing staff within a local authority environment.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and, as such, is offering
