This role serves as the primary engineering product specialist for highly complex equipment and its associated accessories, delivering technical support across the Product Systems and Electronic Value Stream teams. The position is responsible for sustaining existing products, resolving complex technical issues, and ensuring smooth integration of new products into production. The engineering support will be cross functional so will include mechanical as well as electronic and software support to some extent.

What you'll do:

  • Drive product sustainment through continuous improvement, collaborating with the Design Authority team to implement enhancements across existing systems.
  • Support seamless product introductions, ensuring new products and accessories transition smoothly into the production Value Stream.
  • Lead fault triage and troubleshooting, investigating issues across mechanical assemblies, electronic components, and software installations to keep production running efficiently.
  • Tackle complex engineering challenges, partnering with senior design authorities to resolve high-level technical problems.
  • Act as the technical bridge to Quality, providing technical support to VS Quality Engineers, conducting in-depth fault analysis, and supporting supplier issue resolution-including obsolescence management and drawing updates.
  • Collaborate with production, process, and continuous improvement engineers to refine and optimise manufacturing processes for the current MCM100 product and future product lines.
  • Design or source specialised tooling, including jigs, fixtures, hardware, and other production-critical equipment.
  • Support new product development, contributing to the design, testing, and rollout of next-generation accessories and systems.

Education:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or other related engineering field or comparable education and experience

Background and Skills

  • Evidence of an engineering background within the development or production of a technical product (containing electronics and software) is essential
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Understanding of configuration control, engineering change processes, and obsolescence management
  • Strong diagnostic mindset with the ability to break down complex, multi-disciplinary issues
  • Able to balance short-term production needs with long-term product improvements
  • High awareness of safety, compliance, and quality considerations in life-support or mission-critical products • Familiarity with electronic sensing and control products, preferably in marine or harsh environment, would be of benefit
  • Effective communicator capable of working within a cross-functional team
  • CAD design training, preferably in SolidWorks
