Job Description

We are recruiting for a Senior Marine Claims Adjuster on behalf of a top Lloyd's Syndicate.

The Senior Marine Claims Adjuster will investigate and effectively handle a broad range of Marine claims including, but not limited to cargo claims, freight liability, transport & logistics and fine art & specie.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works within specific limits of authority on assignments involving significant technical complexity and coordination.
  • Utilising claims policies and guidelines, reviews coverages, determines quantum exposure, secures information and negotiates and settles/defends claims.
  • Managing a portfolio of Marine claims, ranging in complexity.
  • Interpreting complex or unusual policy coverages, escalating issues as needed.
  • Coordinating and performing investigations and evaluating claims through contact with insureds, brokers, business partners and experts.
  • Partnering with solicitors, customers, brokers, experts and insureds to develop a focused strategy for timely and cost effective resolution of more complex claims.
  • Managing portfolio, and ensuring large and significant claims are identified at an early stage and escalated appropriately.
  • Identifying claims with third party recovery / fraud potential and coordinating with relevant Stakeholder functions.

Key Requirements

  • Proven marine claims handling experience, preferably both company and Lloyd's market claims.
  • Ability to handle claims with a proactive long-term view of business goals and objectives.
  • Thorough understanding of policy language and application of the law relevant to specific class(es) of business.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills enabling viable alternate solutions.
  • Ability to assess the merits of claims including evaluation based on a cost benefit analysis.
  • Understanding of underwriting risk, disciplines and processes.
  • Ability to effectively interact at all levels with internal and external business partners.
  • Appropriate knowledge of relevant regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Previous experience of ECF preferred.
