Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a Review Officer for a Local Authority Client in West London. In this role, you will lead and conduct statutory housing and homelessness reviews, provide advice on complex legal and policy issues, and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and council procedures. Duties: Conduct statutory housing and homelessness reviews, including temporary and permanent accommodation decisions. Provide expert advice and guidance on housing law, policy, and legal challenges. Draft decision letters, reports, and briefings for internal and external stakeholders. Maintain accurate records, databases, and ensure compliance with statutory deadlines. Qualifications and Experience: The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience: Experience applying housing and homelessness legislation, including the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. Experience handling statutory reviews, appeals, or legal challenges in housing or related services. Experience drafting formal decision letters, reports, and legal documentation. Experience working with colleagues, stakeholders, or legal teams to provide guidance and resolve complex cases. What's on offer: Salary: 29ph may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience Contract type: 6 months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension Hours: Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week How to apply: Once your CV is received, if you are successful, you will be contacted. We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Housing Solutions Officer to join a North East London local authority, playing a vital role in preventing and relieving homelessness across the borough. You will work directly with residents who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, building trusting and productive relationships that enable you to persuade, influence and support customers to make positive and realistic housing choices. The role involves delivering a comprehensive housing advice service across both the private and public sectors, using a wide range of interventions to prevent homelessness wherever possible. You will assess and investigate homeless approaches and applications in accordance with the Council's statutory duties under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996, relevant case law, and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. This includes developing, reviewing and implementing Personalised Housing Plans, actively supporting customers to prevent or relieve homelessness through meaningful interventions. The post holder will work closely with landlords, accommodation providers and partner agencies to sustain tenancies, negotiate extensions of occupation and secure suitable housing solutions. You will also contribute to reducing expenditure on temporary accommodation through informed and cost-effective decision-making. Accurate recording of homelessness data is essential, ensuring high-quality submissions for local analysis and national reporting.
