Automotive Technical Account Manager

UK-wide Home-based with regular travel Permanent 55k+

This is not a junior sales role and not an order-taker position.

This role sits at the intersection of technical consultancy and strategic account management, selling engineered, specification-led solutions into automotive OEM and Tier 1/2 environments. Long sales cycles. High validation standards. Senior stakeholders only.

The Role

You will own and grow a defined portfolio of automotive OEM and Tier 1/2 accounts, while driving new business across the automotive and EV sector. You are expected to operate independently, manage complex stakeholders, and materially impact revenue and product strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and expand a UK-wide portfolio of automotive OEM and Tier 1/2 accounts
  • Identify, qualify, and close new business within automotive and EV markets
  • Execute structured account and territory plans aligned to revenue targets
  • Manage the full sales lifecycle from prospecting to contract close
  • Act as a technical advisor on engineered sealing solutions and materials
  • Support customers through design-in, validation, testing, and ramp-up
  • Deliver technical presentations to engineering and procurement teams
  • Conduct regular on-site visits to uncover growth opportunities
  • Track market trends, competitors, and customer feedback
  • Feed structured insight into product development and portfolio planning
  • Maintain accurate CRM, forecasting, and pipeline reporting

Ideal Background

  • Proven technical sales experience within automotive or engineered products
  • Strong exposure to specification-led sales with long decision cycles
  • Experience selling into OEMs and Tier 1/2 suppliers
  • Technically credible with engineers and commercially sharp with buyers
  • Structured, disciplined, and accountable for results
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a home-based role

Requirements

  • HNC (or equivalent) in Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Demonstrable success in consultative or technical sales
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Willingness to travel regularly
