Avencia are partnered with a leading global insurer to recruit an Underwriting Assistant into their London office. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to start a career in insurance underwriting.
You will provide administrative and operational support to Underwriters and Client Management teams, helping ensure policies, documentation and client servicing processes run smoothly.
This role offers strong exposure to underwriting support and is ideal for someone detail-oriented, organised, and keen to develop within the insurance market.
Key responsibilities
Supporting underwriting and client management processes through day-to-day administration
Producing and processing invoices across multiple product lines
Preparing renewal statistics and reports, including loss ratios and claims breakdowns
Checking and monitoring outstanding debt positions
Assisting with policy documentation, including certificates, endorsements and regulatory documents
Supporting data checks and system updates
Assisting with system and process testing when required
Working closely with Underwriters and Operations teams to maintain service standards
Skills & experience
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good organisational and time management skills
Comfortable working with numbers and basic reporting data
Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook and Word (Access beneficial but not essential)
A reliable team player with a proactive attitude
Strong written and verbal communication skills
An interest in insurance and underwriting as a career path
