Project Surveyor - Planned Social Housing

Location: West Midlands (regional travel across projects)

Working Pattern: Hybrid - office and site based

About the role

WPS Planned is seeking an experienced Project Surveyor to support and manage a portfolio of planned social housing projects across the West Midlands.

This role will take responsibility for the commercial and surveying delivery of planned works programmes and will involve managing contracts from inception through to completion.

There is also the opportunity to manage and support a small team, depending on experience and project requirements.

Works will include a range of planned social housing investment programmes such as kitchens, bathrooms, roofing, and wider refurbishment works.

Key responsibilities
  • Manage the commercial and surveying delivery of planned social housing projects
  • Take ownership of contracts from pre-start through to final account
  • Carry out site visits, surveys, and measurements to support accurate scoping and pricing
  • Produce and agree priced scoping documents using Schedules of Rates
  • Manage cost control, valuations, variations, and reporting
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget
  • Liaise with clients, supply chain partners, and internal stakeholders
  • Support, mentor, and potentially manage a small team of surveyors or assistants
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality, and company procedures
Essential requirements
  • Proven experience delivering planned social housing works - essential
  • Background working for a main contractor or property services provider within social housing
  • Strong understanding of planned maintenance and refurbishment programmes
  • Experience managing contracts and commercial responsibilities
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Candidates must have planned social housing experience. Applications without this experience will not be considered.

Desirable
  • Relevant surveying or construction-related qualification
  • Previous experience managing or mentoring junior team members
