About the Role & Client
ITS Building People are recruiting on behalf of a reputable and well-established specialist subcontractor operating across Surrey and the South East. The company has built a strong reputation for quality and reliability, delivering expert services in brickwork, scaffolding, and both flat & pitched roofing.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Roofing Estimator or Assistant Estimator to join their commercial team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates across a diverse portfolio of roofing projects. This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced estimators and ambitious assistants looking to develop their career within a professional, supportive subcontractor with a long-standing industry presence.
Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for flat and pitched roofing projects
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to assess project requirements
  • Conducting material take-offs and producing accurate bills of quantities
  • Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
  • Analysing labour, material, and time requirements to ensure accurate pricing
  • Identifying risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving solutions
  • Supporting the commercial and pre-construction teams throughout the tender process
  • Attending pre-tender and post-tender meetings where required
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience as an Estimator or Assistant Estimator within the roofing or wider construction sector (or strong construction knowledge for junior applicants)
  • Understanding of flat and pitched roofing systems, materials, and installation methods
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and commercial skills
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to learn
  • Highly organised and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Relevant qualifications in construction, quantity surveying, or estimating (preferred but not essential)
