As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation and evolution of robust infrastructure capabilities across HMRC's digital estate. You will provide authoritative technical leadership in observability, cloud engineering, automation and resilience - ensuring HMRC's platforms remain secure, scalable and highly observable.
Working in partnership with product, platform and engineering teams, you will develop self serve infrastructure patterns, strengthen enterprise observability practices and optimise system performance using modern tooling and automation. You will play a key role in defining how we build, monitor and operate infrastructure in a way that supports both operational reliability and long term transformation.
You'll also contribute to wider technical communities of practice, championing engineering standards and sharing expertise across the organisation.
Person specificationWe seek an experienced professional with hands on experience in infrastructure engineering, demonstrating technical leadership capabilities in observability and self serve platforms. You will contribute to our vast digital tax programmes, working with cloud engineering, SaaS platforms and observability technology and Borders & Trade innovations that directly impact millions of citizens.
