Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our client who specialises in retrofitting diesel vehicles to fully electric. As a part of their mechanical team, you will work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to develop innovative design solutions for a variety of unique engineering challenges. From concept to production, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, reliable products. You will be working on vehicle structures for electrical components such as electric motors, batteries and other high voltage automotive components. As an expanding company there is opportunity to be involved in thermal systems, manufacturing and prototype builds. Junior Mechanical Engineer Role: Utilise Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems, particularly Solidworks, to design high-quality models and assemblies. Generate engineering drawings and produce toleranced drawings and Bill of Materials (BOMs) for production. Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to analyse and validate designs. Demonstrate knowledge of machine tools and sheet metal manufacturing processes. Perform design calculations and create design concepts to support product development. Build prototypes, products, and systems suitable for testing, and set up and run simulations. Collaborate with customers & suppliers to understand requirements. Work within a team, utilizing own ideas and initiative to drive design solutions. Create manufacturing documentation including SOPs and FMEAs. Strong understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics. Experience with thermal modelling and simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, FloTHERM, COMSOL). Practical experience in testing and validating thermal systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Desirable Skills Experience in HVAC, renewable energy, or advanced manufacturing sectors.
